Performance Tips #5: Push Up Box Walks


The shoulder is the most mobile joint and the most susceptible to injury. The main stabilizing muscles of the scapula are levator scapulae, rhomboids major and minor, serratus anterior, and trapezii. Imbalances and/or weakness of these muscles can result in shoulder dysfunction and lead to injury. These muscles can be strengthened through exercises using resistance as well as body weight. Push Up Box Walks work on shoulder strength and stability, as well as core. Intergrate it into your weeking training to work on the strenght and stability of your shoulders. To increase the intensity, add a push up when the hands are on the ground.
