Performance Tip #4: Single Leg Box Squats


Single leg box squats improve single leg strength and stability. A majority of sports are played on one leg so it is important to focus on single leg strength, power, balance, and stability. The importance of single leg box squats is to strengthen the lower body, particularly the glutes and quadriceps. This exercise is often incorporated into workouts for prevention of ACL injury because it requires strong knee stability. At Compete Sports Performance and Rehab, we have our athletes perform single leg box squats to increase their single leg strength and stability.
